Properties of the heat-affected zone of maraging steels in relation to thermal cycles during welding
Abstract
In single-pass argon-arc welding of maraging steel the heat-affected zone is weakened, the extent depending on the heating cycle. When maraging steels 00N18K8M5TYu and 00Kh4N14M3TYu are welded with cooling after each pass to a temperature below Mf the weld seam and the heat-affected zone are strengthned due to partial aging. In this case welds equal in strength to the base metal under static load can be obtained by manual argon-arc welding.
