Effect of silicon on the phase composition of the KhN70M alloy
Abstract
We developed a method of electrolytic separation of excess phases (M6C, AB2, and σ-phase) in Cr‑Ni‑Mo alloys KhN70M and KhN55M.We found that silicon in the KhN70M alloy at the concentrations investigated favors precipitation of cubic carbides of the M6C type and a hexagonal phase of the AB2 type. We developed a method of electrolytic separation of excess phases (M6C, AB2, and σ-phase) in Cr‑Ni‑Mo alloys KhN70M and KhN55M. We found that silicon in the KhN70M alloy at the concentrations investigated favors precipitation of cubic carbides of the M6C type and a hexagonal phase of the AB2 type. An increase of the silicon content from 0.06 to 1.5% widens the temperature range in which these phases exist (800–1100°C) and increases their quantity.
