Critical Coupling in (1+1)-Dimensional Light-Front &#9664 Theory

Spontaneous symmetry breaking in (1+1)-dimensional &#966⁴ theory is studied with discretized light-front quantization. The critical coupling evaluated from the first few terms in the hbar expansion of the commutation relations [a₀ , a_n] is 28.8 &#956² / hbar le &#955_cr le 31.1&#956² / hbar, consistent with the equal-time value, 22&#956² / hbar le &#955_cr le 55.5 &#956² / hbar.
