On the generalized Miura transformation

By generalizing the Miura transformation for W_N to another class of classical W algebras obtained by hamiltonian reduction, we find realisations of these algebras in terms of relatively simple non-abelian current algebras ?, generating the free field realisation of W_N. As an example, we present the ? realisation of W²₃, which we also quantize. We also show how the realisation of W_N with the currents of W_N-1 and a free boson can be generalized to certain classes of “extended” W_N algebras.
