On the validity of perturbative evolution of structure functions from low Q2
Abstract
The dynamical evolution of QCD structure functions from low resolution scales is discussed. In particular, we examine the prescription of Barone et al., who evolve a valence-quark input from Q2 = 0. We parallel their formalism with the traditional leading-logarithm approach and make apparent a number of serious objections. We also discuss briefly the approach of Glück et al., who claim to make serious QCD based predictions in the small x region.
