Drastic magnetic-field-induced chiral current order and emergent current-bond-field interplay in kagome metals
Abstract
Recent discovery of unconventional quantum phases in metals has led to a new trend of condensed matter physics. A famous example is the nematic order in Fe-based and cuprate superconductors. As an extension of this trend, cascade of quantum phases in kagome lattice superconductors AV3Sb5 attracts considerable attention. Especially, the chiral current order with time-reversal-symmetry-breaking (η ) is the source of exotic electronic states. However, the method of controlling the current order and its interplay with the star-of-David bond order (ϕ ) are still unsolved. Here, we derive the magnetic-field (hz)-induced Ginzburg-Landau free energy Δ F [hz,η ,ϕ ] , which enables us to elucidate the field-induced current-bond phase transitions. The emergent "current-bond-hz trilinear coupling term" naturally explains the characteristic field-sensitive states in kagome metals.
