Nano-molar to milli-molar level Ag (I) determination using absorption of light by ZnS QDs without organic ligand
Abstract
Cost-effective and portable UV–vis is utilized for Ag+ determination (nM to mM) in an aqueous medium. Visible range absorption band occurs due to defects in ZnS NPs and is used as an optical probe for Ag detection. Interaction of Ag+- ZnS leads to insoluble Ag2S formation offering opportunity for retrieval of Ag. Study with Pb, Hg, and Cd further evidences selective nature of Ag-S interaction.
