GRB 241217A / EP241217b: NOT optical upper limits

We observed the field of GRB 241217A / EP241217b detected by SVOM (Marius et al., GCN 38594) and Einstein Probe (Zhou et al., GCN 37492), using the StanCam and NOTCam instruments mounted on the Nordic Optical Telescope (NOT), with 9x200s in the SDSS-z band and 18x60 s photometry in the J band. Observations started at 23:09:34 UT on 2024-12-17, i.e. 6.2 hr after the trigger. The optical afterglow (Qiu et al., GCN 38600) is not detected in any of the stacked images, down to the following 5-sigma upper limits: T_mid (UT) | T_mid (hr) | filter | Exposue|5-sigma U.L. (AB) 2024-12-17T23:20:59 | 6.396 | J | 18x60s | 19.5 2024-12-18T01:05:01 | 8.130 | z | 9x200s | 21.3 calibrated with nearby Pan-STARRS and 2MASS stars, and not accounting for any Galactic extinction correction.
