GARDEN: Galaxies at All Redshifts Deciphered and Explained with the NIRSpec MSA
Abstract
Slitlet stepping is a powerful new observing mode that enables the JWST NIRSpec Multi Shutter Array (MSA) to be used as a multiplexed Integral Field Unit for multiple targets at the same time. In Cycle 1, this mode has been used (with different configurations) in GO2123 and GO2136. This abstract presents the work of GO2123, also known as GARDEN: Galaxies at All Redshifts Deciphered and Explained with the NIRSpec MSA. GARDEN has observed 56 galaxies at redshifts between 1 and 5 with specific MSA stepping configurations depending on their morphologies. We plan to study winds from outflows and the kinematics of the gas, as well as the spatial distribution of star formation rate and dust content in funky looking galaxies.
