Weak Dispersed Radio Pulses from the Direction of the X-ray Pulsar PSR J0537-6910 in the Large Magellanic Cloud
Abstract
I detected 49 weak dispersed pulses in a new search of an archival Parkes observation of the X-ray pulsar PSR J0537-6910, located in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC). The pulses span a wide range of dispersion measures (DMs), which suggests multiple origins, and they were identified by the pulse classifier FETCH as likely being astrophysical in origin. Three repeat pulses were detected at a single DM trial of 103.4 pc cm-3, which is within the observed DM range for LMC pulsars. The occurrence of three or more pulses in a single DM trial by chance is unlikely to occur in our search at the (marginally significant) 4.3-sigma level. However, a conclusive statement cannot be made about whether any of these weak pulses originate from PSR J0537-6910.
