Host shift promotes divergent evolution between closely related holoparasitic species
Abstract
Ancient host shift events were identified based on horizontal gene transfer. Interspecific mitogenome size varies mainly due to foreign and repetitive elements. Differences in plastome reduction traits reach the intergeneric level. Host shift promotes species differentiation in parasitic plant lineages.
