The potential for a plastic recycling facility to release microplastic pollution and possible filtration remediation effectiveness
Abstract
There is significant lack of understanding in recycling facilities pollution potential. Plastic Recycling Facilities may be a source of microplastic pollution. Recycling processes creates microplastic particles in wash water. Majority of these particles are <10µm and therefore environmentally relevant. Filtration can remove larger microplastic particles from facilities discharge. <5µm microplastic removal is necessary from recycling facility discharge.
