Parabolitobius antiquus sp. nov., the first Mesozoic amber inclusion of mycetoporine rove beetles (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Mycetoporinae)
Abstract
A new species of the extant genus Parabolitobius is described from mid-Cretaceous Kachin amber. Parabolitobius antiquus sp. nov. has the smallest body in the genus. This is the first discovery of any extant genus of the subfamily Mycetoporinae from the Mesozoic. It suggests a possible wider distribution on Pangea of the Palearctic genus Parabolitobius, with later global extinction.
