AT2023lcr: VLA radio detection
Abstract
We observed the location of the fast optical transient AT2023lcr, also known as ZTF23aaoohpy (Swain et al., GCN 34022) or ATLAS23msn (Fulton et al. Astronote #2023-179), using the Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array (VLA) on 2023 June 21. Observations were carried out using the X-band receivers (8-12 GHz) between 06:20 and 06:46 (UT), approximately 3.21 days after the earliest reported detection of the transient (Gompertz et al., GCN 34023). We detect a strong radio source at a location of RA = 16:31:37.419, Dec=+26:21:58.286 (J2000; RMS statistical accuracy +/- 0.01"), consistent with the optical position. The average flux density over the bandpass is 204 +/- 8 microJy. We thank Heidi Medlin and the VLA staff for rapidly scheduling and executing these observations.
