Spectroscopy in the Middle Corona: Probing the Kinetic Processes in the Nascent Solar Wind and Solar Energetic Particle Production

Spectroscopic observations in the Middle Corona enable us to probe into the underlying kinetic processes at work and provide powerful diagnostic capabilities for understanding how the solar wind is heated and accelerated, how a CME interacts with the corona to obtain its characters, and how and when a CME develops a shock that accelerates the ambient solar wind to SEPs.
