VizieR Online Data Catalog: Lyα emitters and QSOs in COMSOS and EGS fields (Mukae+, 2020)
Abstract
Two catalogs of foreground galaxies are drawn from samples of Lyα emitters (LAEs) in the COSMOS and EGS regions. The COSMOS and EGS LAE catalogs are constructed from early observations of HETDEX, obtained with the Visible Integral-field Replicable Unit Spectrograph (VIRUS) on the upgraded 10m Hobby-Eberly Telescope (HET). The HET is an innovative telescope with an 11m segmented primary mirror, located in West Texas at the McDonald Observatory. VIRUS is a massively replicated integral field spectrograph, designed for blind spectroscopic surveys. It consists of 78 fiber integral field units (IFUs) distributed within the 22' diameter field of view of the telescope. A detailed technical description of the HET wide-field upgrade and VIRUS is presented in Hill et al. (2020, in preparation). Each IFU feeds 448 fibers with diameter 1.5" to a pair of spectrographs. The spectrographs have a fixed spectral bandpass of 3500-5500Å and a spectral resolution of ~800. The HETDEX program is performing a blind emission-line survey over a total of ~450deg2 area with a standard exposure set of 3x6min dithers and aims to identify 106 LAEs at Lyα emission redshifts of zLyα=1.9-3.5 in a 9Gpc3 volume. The HETDEX survey constructs an emission-line database where emission-line detections are processed in combination with broadband imaging data, including data from Subaru/Hyper Suprime-Cam (HSC).
