Spectral data analysis: the fine structure approximation for the hydrogen series applied to the observed solar spectra
Abstract
We present a quantum model to analyze the states with principal quantum number n <5 from the hydrogen spectral series. This quantum analysis leads us to the identification of some special quantum states. The transitions n -> n + 1 between these states, explain the profile of the relative intensity lines from the corresponded fine structure multiplet. We validate our model using the NIST database and compare the results with observed solar spectra in order to prove its applicability.
