"Digging in the garbage" or SZ Lyncis - a quadruple stellar system?
Abstract
We present the results of the re-analysis of the available timing data on the well-known high-amplitude Delta Scuti (HADS) star SZ Lyncis. Our final data set consists in 516 photoelectric and CCD times of maxima, free of outliers, covering a time base of about 60 years. The analysis of the residuals obtained after removing the already known light travel time effect (LTTE) (3.23 yr) allowed us (i) to confirm the presence of the 44.1 yr periodicity announced by us at ZAC 2019 Conference, and (ii) to detect an additional pulsation period modulation of 49.8 d. The analysis methodology relied on signal detection, estimation of the models' parameters, and evaluation of the detectability of the detected periodicities. We interpreted them as being caused also by the LTTE related to the presence of two additional unseen companions. We discuss the possible configuration of this hypothetical quadruple system.
