Wind-Cloud Interactions in Supersonic Flows
Abstract
The dynamics of radiatively-cooled cold clouds embedded in magnetized flows of hot and fast material is central for understanding multiphase gas in astrophysics. I will give an overview of numerical work of wind-cloud interactions, focusing on work that explores the effects of magnetic fields, cosmic rays, thermal conduction and radiative cooling in supersonic flows. I also report on efforts to include the results of these small-scale simulations via subgrid models into large-scale cosmological simulations.
