A new genus and species of the family Archaeatropidae (Psocodea: Trogiomorpha) from mid-Cretaceous amber of northern Myanmar
Abstract
A new genus and species of Archaeatropidae, Longiantennum fashengi gen. et sp. nov., is described from mid-Cretaceous Burmese amber. This new genus is assigned to the family Archaeatropidae according to the following characters: forewing anterior margin strongly curved, pterostigma not thickened, forewing Sc developed and curved to R, forewing veins with one row of setae and external valve pilosity. This new genus differs from the other archaeatropid genera based on the antennae with 37 antennomeres at least, the mx2 without conical sensillum and the distal radial cell obviously smaller than basal radial cell. This is the second genus and second species of Archaeatropidae from Burmese amber.
