Hoploscatopse prisca gen. et sp. nov., the first Scatopsidae (Diptera) from mid-Cretaceous amber of Myanmar

The first named species of Scatopsidae, Hoploscatopse prisca gen. et sp. nov., from mid-Cretaceous amber of northern Myanmar is described and figured. The systematic placement of the new genus is briefly discussed. It is tentatively placed in Scatopsidae incertae sedis, pending the discovery of further similar taxa in the Cretaceous.
