Community Code for Magnetic Field Modelling of Jupiter
Abstract
We report on recent efforts to provide the MOP community with shared computer code to perform common calculations that can aid in planning scientific observations and data analysis. Last year we developed code that calculates the magnetic field in Jupiter's magnetosphere using the CAN current sheet model updated for the Juno era (Connerney et al., 2020) and the JRM09 internal field (Connerney et al., 2018). We have updated to include the JRM33 internal field model (Connerney et al., 2022) as well as common previous models (e.g. O6, VIP4, VIPAL to name a few) and have sped up the execution time of the internal field codes. Links to our IDL, MATLAB, and Python code can be found at https://lasp.colorado.edu/home/mop/missions/juno/community-code/.Here will we give a status update on our work and discuss lessons learned so far.
