Heliospheric System Observatory Conjunctions and Data Return for Parker Solar Probe Encounter Periods
Abstract
Parker Solar Probe (PSP) has completed thirteen of twenty-four close-approach encounters to the Sun occurring during its prime mission. Different Earth-Sun-PSP geometries through these encounters have resulted in varying levels of science-data return, as some encounters have more favorable alignments with Earth, as well as differing degrees of analysis coordination with other assets in the heliospheric system observatory (HSO). Future encounters offer promising opportunities for further multi-mission coordinated observations and analysis, but the nature of PSP's orbital trajectory results in certain periods with lower science data return compared to previous data-rich orbits. This presentation will outline various PSP-HSO conjunctions from past and future PSP encounters, alongside raw data return and projected data volume potential to capitalize on favorable collaboration opportunities.
