Fred Whipple Lecture
Abstract
The interactions of wind and planetary surface materials produce a bewildering diversity of beautiful landforms like dunes and yardangs, phenomena like dust devils and ocean waves, and exotic mysteries like sailing stones. My work over the last Titan year has explored this scientific wonderland, and taken me to dramatic locations on our own planet. A particularly rewarding challenge has been in understanding how spacecraft systems and instruments interact with these aspects of the environment, and in developing engineering specifications for missions like Dragonfly.
