The International GNSS Service: CBIS Developments
Abstract
The mission of the International GNSS Service (IGS) is to provide, on an openly available basis, the highest-quality global navigation satellite system (GNSS) data, products and services in support of the terrestrial reference frame, Earth observation and research; positioning, navigation and timing; and other applications that benefit science and society. In addition, one of the three goals in the IGS 2021+ Strategic Plan is to strengthen outreach and engagement by advocating for open access geodetic and GNSS data and products that facilitate collaborations, standardization, and inclusivity.
With the mission and 2021+ strategic plan goals in mind, the IGS Central Bureau (CB) sought to improve both the Site Log Manager (SLM) and IGS Network systems. These services are vital to the IGS community as they provide the ability to view and edit IGS GNSS Ground Station metadata. This poster presents the improvements to both the Site Log Manager and ground station network software, enabling technical experts as well as the general public to interact with IGS metadata using multiple methods. A comprehensive summary of extensive user research, state of the art web tooling, and the resulting new and improved user interface will be presented. Community engagement and accessibility improvements to enable both technical expert and general public usability will be discussed, and information about how IGS user community members can collaborate on the open-source Site Log Manager software will be provided.- Publication:
