NGC 4190 ULX-1: an ultraluminous X-ray source yet to be unveiled
Abstract
Despite the recent outstanding progresses in understanding the natureof ultraluminous X-ray sources, a thorough picture is far from beingachieved. To conduct meaningful studies, these sources must be observedfor a long time and possibly monitored over years. From this point ofview, NGC 4190 ULX-1 surely represents one of the best samples. Beingalmost isolated, it is the perfect target for XMM-Newton/RGS and EPICcameras. A continuous, long observation would allow us to constrain thegeometry and the structure of the accretion disc, to detect spectralsignatures of outflows, and to search for pulsations. Hence, we askfor 120 ks of exposure of the source, with the aim to unveil thecharacteristics of NGC 4190 ULX-1 and add another piece to the puzzleof ultraluminuos X-ray sources.
