LUNAR PALACE 1 based space food and nutrition research
Abstract
With the advancement of social civilization, the importance of space exploration is becoming increasingly prominent, and sounding activities at longer distances and longer times are becoming more frequent. This places higher requirements on the technological level in the field of space food and nutrition. In order to ensure that human beings can live on other planets in the future, there are three ways to replenish supplies: depend on the earth, regeneration and recycling as well as acquisition from other plants. Early space exploration activities usually carried all the materials but it is costly, and the ecosystem on the other plants was not sound enough to guarantee the supply of human life. Therefore, the life system of the regeneration and recycling is an inevitable direction for the development of future space technology. In the early days, only the United States and Russia mastered this technology. With the development of manned space technology, more and more countries have included the system of regeneration and recycling into the research category. In recent years, China has made outstanding achievements in the field of regeneration and recycling system. The success of the 105-day Bioregenerative Life Support Experiment for Three-Member Crew in a Closed Integrative Experimental Facility LUNAR PALACE 1 marked a breakthrough in China's aerospace technology. On this basis, Liu Hong's team launched a new round of more difficult closed experiments named Lunnar Palace 365, which began on May 10, 2017 and ended on May 10, 2018. Professor Liu Hong of Beihang University independently developed the world's first artificially closed integrative experimental facility of four biological chains, including plants, animals, microorganisms and humans, while which in Russia and the United States are two biological chain systems, including plants and humans. what is worth noting is that the degree of closure of this experiment is as high as 98%. At the same time, the degree of closure of the Russian closure experiment is 82% and that of the United States is 78%. The core of "LUNAR PALACE 1" is the bioregenerative life support system-BLSS, which is the most advanced closed-loop life support technology , and is also the key technology for mankind to achieve long-term survival in outer space. Based on the existing research materials, this article will analyze the importance of space food and nutrition, as well as the difficulties and focuses of research in this field, and on the basis of this, a detailed introduction to how the " LUNAR PALACE 1" works. At the same time, the excellent achievements made by the United States and Russia in the field of space food and nutrition were analyzed, and the basic elements required for long-term survival of humans in space were obtained, providing a valuable reference for space exploration. Key words: regeneration and recycling, LUNAR PALACE 1, diet balance, space exploration
