Accretion disk/corona interplay in Active Galactic Nuclei
Abstract
The key ingredients of active galactic nuclei - the accretion disk and the hot corona, emit in the UV to X-ray bands. X-rays arising from the compact, hot corona interact with the regions ranging from the vicinity of SMBH within a few Schwarzschild radii to outer accretion disk as well the broad and narrow-line regions. The UV continuum depending on its origin and its connection with the X-ray emission can test the standard accretion disk model or probe the seed photons for Thermal Comptonisation giving rise to the X-ray emission. The Indian multi-wavelength space mission AstroSat has performed UV and X-ray observations of a number of bright AGN. I will discuss the spectral and temporal connection between the disk and the corona based on AstroSat observations.
