Remarks on the Lunar Series and Eclipse Cycles in Late Classic Maya Records
Abstract
Eclipse events are often used to determine precise chronology for historical events. The use of the eclipse date in Maya chronology may not offer such an unambiguous solution as may be supposed. The paper examines relationships between the Dresden Codex Eclipse Table, the Lunar Series clauses from monumental inscriptions, and the eclipse date from Stela 3 of Santa Elena Poco Uinic, Chiapas.
