Phylogeny, divergence times, and diversification in Calophyllaceae: Linking key characters and habitat changes to the evolution of Neotropical Calophylleae
Abstract
A new phylogenetic hypothesis with improved sampling is presented for Calophyllaceae. Our results show strong support for the HaCaKi clade (Haploclathra [Caraipa + Kielmeyera] The monophyly of some clades is confirmed: Calophyllum, Kayea, Mammea and Neotropical clades. Reproductive characters are related to evolutionary dynamic changes in Calophyllaceae. The Andean uplift and temperature rise influenced diversification within Calophylleae.
