Discovery of two hypocrealean fungi infecting spotted lanternflies, Lycorma delicatula: Metarhizium pemphigi and a novel species, Ophiocordyceps delicatula
Abstract
Surveys of fungal pathogens infecting Lycorma delicatula were continued. Samples were collected in Pennsylvania, where epizootics were previously recorded. Two previously unobserved hypocrealean fungi were identified by molecular analysis. One fungus is a new species – Ophiocordyceps delicatula. The second fungus was identified as Metarhizium pemphigi.
