Human-caused mortality of large carnivores in Iran during 1980–2021
Abstract
Frequency of human-caused large carnivore mortalities varies across species. Brown bears may be killed more frequently due to potential threats to human life and damage to crops. Leopards and wolves are likely killed more often because of livestock depredations. Improving local people's attitudes toward large carnivores may reduce mortality of large carnivores in Iran.
