Bigleaf maple, Acer macrophyllum Pursh, decline in western Washington, USA
Abstract
Bigleaf maple decline has been reported across the Pacific Northwest region. We examined the role of abiotic and biotic factors on bigleaf maple decline. No plant pathogen or insect herbivore was implicated in the decline. Site conditions, especially hotter urban sites, are predisposing stems to decline.
