Variable Stars at the Fringes of the Local Group
Abstract
We investigate the properties of pulsating variable stars in two galaxies at the edge or nearby the Local Group: VV 124 and KKr 25, located at ∼1.3 and ∼2 Mpc, respectively. We have identified well populated samples of RR Lyrae stars and Cepheids in both systems. We discuss how these can be used to trace the properties of different stellar populations across the whole life of a galaxy, thus providing fundamental information to draw a global picture of the evolution of these systems.
