Progress Towards Dismantling Systemic Racism and Discrimination at Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences

As part of the Spring 2021 Unlearning Racism in Geoscience (URGE), the Bigelow URGE pod (https://urgeoscience.org/pods/bigelow-urge-pod/) proposed a variety of recommendations to the Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences to improve our policies, procedures, and culture to dismantle systemic barriers to equitable participation in our science and education. In this presentation, we will provide an update on our progress, highlight resources we developed, and review obstacles encountered in our quest to make Bigelow an inclusive environment where all feel welcome and supported.
