Research on Purification Effect of Rumex japonicus Houtt on Micro-polluted Water
Abstract
In this study, the Qingyin River in China was taken as an example to investigate the purifying effect of Rumex japonicus Houtt on the nitrogen pollution of micro-polluted water bodies. Compared with NO3--N and NO2--N, NH4+-N was better removed by Rumex japonicus Houtt. When the initial concentration of ammonia was from 1 mg/L 10 mg/L, ammonia could be completely removed by Rumex japonicus Houtt. In addition, the removal effect of Rumex japonicus Houtt on ammonia nitrogen had not been significantly affected in the actual river water, which demonstrated the excellent ammonia removal performance of Rumex japonicus Houtt under different environmental loads. At the same time, the correlation coefficient between plant relative growth rate and chlorophyll a was as high as 0.9677. Furthermore, the removal of ammonia by Rumex japonicus Houtt was mainly the four points of plant root nitrification-denitrification, blow-off, plant absorption and other effects, of which plant roots nitrification-denitrification accounted for more than 78%. Our research provided a very promising method for the purification of ammonia in micro-polluted rivers.
