Physics and Energetics of the Ultra Fast Outflow in IRAS F11119+3257
Abstract
IRASF11119+3257 is an Ultra Luminous Infrared Galaxy (ULIRG) with postmerger morphology, hosting a type-1 QSO (LX 10^44 erg/s at z=0.189) witha persistent UFO (v 0.25c) observed with both NuSTAR and Suzaku. It isalso the first system in which it was possible to connect the nuclearoutflow with a galaxy-scale molecular outflow, observed in OH and COtransitions. Despite its exceptional properties, the source was neverobserved with XMM-Newton. We request a 110ks XMM-Newton observation tostudy in detail the nuclear outflow properties and energetics. We alsorequest 53 ks of simultaneous NuSTAR observation, which is crucial inorder to constrain the blue wing of the UFO, and the absorption edgesand continuum above 10 keV.
