Planetary systems at the Era of the ELT
Abstract
Within ten years, the new generation of extremely large telescopes, equipped with advanced spectro-imagers, will arrive at a propitious time to exploit the large number of discoveries from the ground and space to study the diversity of planetary systems including ours. In this talk, we will briefly review the main science drivers of the first Light instruments of the European ELT (MICADO-MAORY, HARMONI, METIS) dedicated to the exploration of our own Solar System and its diversity (Planets, moons, asteroids, comets, belts) in connection with the study of exoplanetary systems, the processes of planetary formation and evolution, the architecture of planetary systems and the physics and atmospheres of giant and telluric planets with the ultimate goal to search for and discover potential bio-markers around other worlds.
