Investigation of nonlinear optical properties of chromium tetrapyrrole dicarbonyl complex
Abstract
A new chromium tetrapyrrole dicarbonyl complex, [Cr(CO)2(Pyrrole)4] has been synthesized and characterized using two UV-vis and FTIR spectroscopic techniques. Z-scan technique (with a CW diode laser radiation at λ = 635 nm) was applied to study the nonlinear optical properties (refraction and absorption coefficients). Theoretical fit was carried to the acquired data to calculate the |χ3| nonlinear optical coefficient including the thermo-optic coefficient calculations. The obtained results show that, the existence of metal ion in the prepared complex enhances magnificently the optical nonlinearity of the investigated material. The recorded results are encouraging the possible potential applications of this complex as future promising optoelectronic devices.
