AGILE detection of a burst from SGR 1935+2154 on May 10, 2020
Abstract
The AGILE satellite detected a short hard X-ray burst at T0 = 2020-05-10 06:12:03.5 (UT). For technical reasons data were processed with a delay of more than a day. The event is visible in the scientific ratemeters of the SuperAGILE (SA; 20-60 keV) detector and of the Anti-Coincidence (AC, 50-200 keV). The event lasted ~0.5 s and released a total number of ~100 counts in the SA ratemeter (above a background of ~43 Hz), and ~937 counts in the AC ratemeter (above a background of ~4700 Hz). The light curves of SA and AC ratemeters can be found at https://tools.ssdc.asi.it/ImgView/Agile/SGR1935burst_lc_2020-05-1027 . Considering the geometry of the satellite at T0, the burst detection is compatible with a source at the position of SGR 1935+2154 as determined in GCN #27714 (Hurley et al.). Additional analysis of AGILE data is in progress.
