AGILE detection of a short and hard X-ray burst possibly related to SGR 1935+2154
Abstract
The AGILE satellite detected a short hard X-ray burst at T0 = 2020-05-03 23:25:13.50 (UT). The event is visible in the scientific ratemeters of the SuperAGILE (SA; 20-60 keV) detector and of the Anti-Coincidence (AC, 50-200 keV). The event lasted ~0.5 s and released a total number of ~360 counts in the SA ratemeters (above a background of ~60 Hz) while ~800 counts in the AC ratemeters (above a background of ~4200 Hz). The SA and AC ratemeters light curves can be found at http://www.agilescienceapp.it/notices/AGILE_RM_SGR1935+2154_20200503.png . Considering the geometry of the satellite at T0, the burst detection is compatible with a source at the position of SGR 1935+2154. Additional analysis of AGILE data is in progress.
