Response of wildlife to bush thinning on the north central freehold farmlands of Namibia
Abstract
Bush encroachment in Namibia negatively affects biodiversity and the economy. Thinning of tree/shrubs was conducted to restore wildlife habitat and rangeland productivity. Camera traps were used to assess impacts of bush thinning towards wildlife. Thinned areas had more photographic captures than non-thinned. Large predators were the most responsive to the thinning treatment.
