Estudio de calidad de imagen en el telescopio JS del CASLEO
Abstract
Sky quality in an astronomical site depends on different variables. Astronomical seeing is one of the most relevant affecting important parameters, such as spatial resolution and signal to noise ratio. Seeing measurements on any given telescope depend on atmospheric conditions as well as on instrumental factors. As a first step of an integral study of image quality at the Jorge Sahade telescope of the Complejo Astronómico El Leoncito (CASLEO), we present in this work results from FWHM (Full Width at Half Maximum) measurements made on direct images acquired during 166 nights. These values are compared with measurements made with a DIMM (Differential Image Motion Monitor) instrument. We then estimate the instrumental FWHM by means of the relation between FWHM measured at any given zenith distance and the DIMM seeing corrected to that zenith distance. In a next stage of this work, we will compare these results against meteorological data.
