Completing the census of Ultraluminous X-ray sources in nearby galaxies
Abstract
Ultraluminous X-ray sources (ULXs) are extragalactic X-ray sourcespossibly hosting super-Eddington accreting black holes or neutronstars. The ULX population shows sources with randomic long and short-termvariability. We selected the twelve nearby (<20 Mpc) galaxies that mostprobably host ULXs and that were not observed in X-rays. We ask forsnapshot (10 ks) observations to complete the census of ULXs in thenearby universe.
