Tilia cultivars in historic lime avenues and parks in the UK, Estonia and other European countries
Abstract
Formal gardens across NE Europe often contain Tilia x europaea. Pallida and Zwarte Linde are the two predominant cultivars planted across centuries. Locally additional cultivars and genotypes have been planted, such a Hatfield in the UK. Molecular identification ensures replacement of historically correct trees.
