Forest adaptation strategies aimed at climate change: Assessing the performance of future climate-adapted tree species in a northern Minnesota pine ecosystem
Abstract
Variation in survival and growth among planted native and novel species. Understory shrub/herbaceous cover was a strong predictor of seedling survival. Species silvical characteristics were a driver of seedling performance. Results suggest current climate may be suitable for some future-adapted species. Provides a framework for planting efforts aimed at climate change adaptation.
