New materials of Nemestrinidae (Diptera: Brachycera) from the mid-Cretaceous Burmese amber
Abstract
Some new amber materials of Nemestrinidae from the mid-Cretaceous of Myanmar have been examined. Among them, two new species of Hirmoneura named, Hirmoneura burmanica sp. nov. and Hirmoneura mostovskii sp. nov. are described and illustrated based on two well-preserved specimens respectively. The new species H. burmanica sp. nov. is established based on R1 turned backwards and bm and discal cells broader than the fourth posterior cell. Grimaldi (2016) established Hirmoneura aff. richterae Mostovski and Delclòs, 2000, but it can be identified as the new species Hirmoneura mostovskii sp. nov. based on its distinctly smaller body size and obviously longer second tarsomere of hind tarsus. Moreover, the venational variation of Hirmoneura caudiprima Grimaldi (2016) from Burmese amber was discussed here.
