Magnetic nanoparticles bearing metallocarbonyl moiety as antibacterial and antifungal agents
Abstract
Herein, is presented the synthesis and characterization of a new group of metallocarbonyl Fe, Ru, Mo, W complexes anchored to the surface of magnetic nanoparticles. Two types of iron oxide core-shell particles were employed to form complexes: containing amino or thiol groups at the surface. The metallocarbonyl complexes and complexes immobilized on magnetic particles were studied and compared in terms of their photostability. The obtained materials are promising antibacterial and antifungal agents as they appeared to be highly active against multidrug resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa and flucytozyne resistant Candida albicans.
