Statistical analysis on spatio-temporal correlation of the thermospheric variability
Abstract
An accurate thermospheric spatio-temporal correlation model is very important for ionospheric/thermospheric research and ionospheric/thermospheric modeling. Using the initial three-months thermospheric ∑O/N2 observation from the NASA Global-scale Observations of the Limb and Disk (GOLD) ultraviolet spectrograph, we statistically investigate the spatio-temporal of day-to-day variation. The thermospheric correlation varies with latitude, longitude, season and local time, and the possible reasons of these variations are also discussed. We calculate the thermospheric correlation distances, and analyze its spatio-temporal variability. The thermospheric correlation distances depend on direction, and the meridianal and zonal show obvious difference. The thermospheric correlation distances also varies with latitude, longitude, season and local time
