Global System of Quantitative Remote Sensing Products for Typical Applications
Abstract
China has launched hundreds of satellites since 1970s, and established multi-sensors observation systems which have the ability to monitor the global information of resource and environment. As great development of earth observation techniques, more and more remote sensing data with different spatial resolutions, spectral bands and working modes are producing day by day. There are still large gaps between present application status and national demands. The paper designed and implemented an global system of quantitative remote sensing productions for typical applications using a distributed deployment design structure supported by the national high technology research and development program of China. The system has integrated key algorithm and model for global quantitative thematic remote sensing products in five typical application fields including forestry, agriculture, mining, water resources and ecological environment. The global system of quantitative remote sensing products for forest can produce 3 thematic products including forest above biomass, carbon storage, forest disturbance. The global system of quantitative remote sensing products for agriculture can produce 7 thematic products including crops growing condition, crop biomass, unit yield, cultivation area, crop yield, drought and multiple-crop index in both global and national scale. The global system of quantitative remote sensing products for mining can produce 7 thematic products in giant metallogenic belt including linear and circle structure, geological interpreted map, ferric contamination anomaly, hydroxyl anomaly, prospect area of detecting mineral by remote sensing, target area of detecting mineral by remote sensing, comprehensive anomaly area of oil-gas detection. The global system of quantitative remote sensing products for mining can produce 3 thematic products in Mekong river valley including water resources flow, flooding area, water pollution abnormal distribution. The global system of quantitative remote sensing products for ecological environment can produce 20 thematic products which have a spatial resolution of 30m in the sensitive area of global change and national scale and 1km in the global scale. It is confirmed that the platform has the reliability in producing of large scale thematic products.
